Secrets of the Supernatural: Deliverance Is

If demonization is spiritual captivity then we are held prisoner by a supernatural mobster. (See previous post explaining Demonization.)

The way out is through salvation and deliverance. Salvation has always been the easy part. But the deliverance side of things has been left off Christianity's menu for some reason. But when it comes to spiritual warfare, there are two things you need to understand.

Spiritual Warfare

Where is Spiritual Warfare fought? There are two major supernatural battlefields: the external and the internal.
  • The external war is deliverance. When Jesus sent out his buddies, the disciples, he sent them out to cast out demons and heal the sick. This is a battle with the lowest level of demons, the foot soldiers in the army of the kingdom of darkness.
  • The internal war is within your soul: your thoughts, beliefs and emotions.(Coming soon--an explanation of this.)

The External War

Deliverance is the act of casting out of demons. We are not trained in Sunday School how to deal with supernatural imprisonment even though the Bible is FULL of stories of Jesus kickin’ demon butt. “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil‘s work” I John 3:8b. That gives me some serious goose-bumps! Deliverance was a huge part of what Jesus did on earth.

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18-19 KJV
There is hope for freedom.
Jesus, in His total awesomeness, knew when there was a demon influencing someone and could just command the demons to leave. (Remember Legion and those demons who wanted to be thrown into the pigs?) Jesus naturally has all authority, and He passed that authority to us.
“When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” (Luke 9:1-2)

If Jesus came to set an example, then doing deliverance is one of our God-given rights and callings. He’s promised us freedom, we've gone the first step in accepting that Jesus is our savior. The second step is to be truly free from demonic influence.
Deliverance gets rid of any demonic presence. It’s like breaking up with an abusive boyfriend. You deserve to live a life free from the cruelty of demons. Plain and simple. King God has given us a way out of that abusive relationship.

Deliverance Analogy

Deliverance is a delicate process, like major surgery. It’s removing something from our lives that may have been there for years—since childhood, for most of us. Jesus sent the disciples out two by two, as a team ministry to cast out demons. It should never be done on our own, because no one can see the middle of our own backs.
God, our Grand Surgeon, has given us tips and tricks in the Bible for our safety because He loves us. Deliverance should be done in love, kindness, gentleness, trust, and under heavy spiritual protection. Would you trust a rogue doctor with your body or a demon hunter with your spirit?
So there is a right way and a wrong way of doing deliverance... (Next: "Deliverance Is Not")

*Warning: Please don’t try deliverance on your own. I’m not sharing about deliverance so everyone can go throwing demons off each other. This is for informational purposes only. It’s best to seek deliverance from and experienced team who are sensitive to the person’s safety, so something traumatic doesn’t happen. (I work with Bear Creek Ranch using Prophetic Deliverance. If you are interested in getting deliverance, go to their site and don’t go it alone. It should always be a group effort.)
