SYNOPSIS:

(Courtesy of Goodreads – No Spoilers!)

In this stunning bridge book between Cress and Winter in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles, Queen Levana’s story is finally told.

Mirror, mirror on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?

Fans of the Lunar Chronicles know Queen Levana as a ruler who uses her “glamour” to gain power. But long before she crossed paths with Cinder, Scarlet, and Cress, Levana lived a very different story – a story that has never been told . . . until now.

REVIEW:

I could have lived without reading this novella. Why, why, why did you write her story? It made me hate her MORE! She is so evil and makes all the WRONG decisions. Booo! Levana!
Maybe that was Marissa’s intent? For us to hate Levana even more. I was worried she was trying to make us sympathetic with her. But man, Levana is CRAY-ZAY!

The only thing that makes this novella worth reading, is finding out what happened to Cinder as a child. (Made me realize how glad I am that she ended up such a totally awesome character as a result of being burned and turned into a cyborg. That sounded bad. Sorry. This book affected me.)

RATING:

I totally did not enjoy reading this book. (It is also not necessary to gain the full effect of the Lunar Chronicles.) I’m rating at a 3. A Pretty Good Read. I had to watch something happy on TV after I finished reading this.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

There is violence (with the burning and the mind control) and there is some icky insinuated sex between a grown man and 16 year old Levana. Proceed at your own risk. Nothing is described, thank the Lord, but the situation is a bit disturbing. PG-13 for sure.
