writing an entire novel. Even though it may actually be ten times more than what the
average person thinks it is (especially with fantasy novels because you have to
create the world, laws of nature, governments, cultures, weather, and
more.) </span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">But one thing that I never knew took a lot of thought
was signing books. Sure anyone can sit down and write their name in a book. But
what about those signing phrases that have become so popular?<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">I love getting signed books and one thing I see they
have in common is saying something to the reader, about the book. Many of them
say something about enjoying the "adventure." Others are specific to
me (because they are my writer friends.)<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">Well if you're sitting at a signing table, scribbling
in ten, fifty, or a hundred books for the people standing in front of you,
there's no time to consider who this person is, and what they mean to you. That
would be awesome if I could be that thoughtful! LOL! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">So my solution is two-fold. #1 to think
of something I'd like to say to each one of them that coincides with the theme
of the book. (Although, THEY don't know it at the time, because they haven't
read it yet. Hehehe!) And #2 something that encourages them at the same
time. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><i>Wingbound's </i>signing phrase was birthed out of
something from the back of the book: </span><span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12pt;">"Following the rules isn’t always the right thing
to do when you were born to be the exception."</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;">This stems from the main character, Ledger, wanting to be good and follow the rules, but their rules are wrong and go against everything Ledger is. He sees good in everyone and when he meets a girl with wings from the enemy floating island, he breaks the rules and befriends her. Because of who he is inside, he is the exception to their rules and causes some amazing things to happen as a result. So my signing phrase is about him and an encouragement to the reader, "Be the exception!" </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: "times new roman" , serif; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><br /></span></div>

The first line of a book is the first big hook. If it is interesting, makes me think, or makes me ask some sort of question, then I'm hooked. I must see what happens next. A lot of work goes into first lines. What does he need to see for himself? Why is the screw in her ankle worn down? Why did it take seven years to write ONE letter?<br />

<br />
<br />
Last weekend I released my first fiction novel. I’ve realized three things as <i>Wingbound </i>hit bookstore shelves that rocked me to the core. Writing fiction starts 100% in your own head. You find the characters, get to know them. You enter the setting and describe it. You follow where the story-plot naturally goes. But it exists entirely in your own head and heart. Then once it is complete, other people start reading it and entering into this world you created. They are looking into that secret place. They are forming opinions about it. And it’s rather world-rocking!<br />
<br />
<h4>
THREE REVELATIONS</h4>
<br />
<b>#1 - Where I was once </b><b>alone </b>in the writing process, people are joining me in this new world I created. Some will like it. Some will not. And either way, it’s okay. If they have any reaction at all to what I’ve written, that means I did my job. I gave them an experience. It’s not just <i>my </i>story anymore. Once you read it, that world is now yours too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<b>#2 - I have a wonderful support system.</b> I started a Launch Team three months before Wingbound was released. I asked for support, encouragement, and help getting the word out about this indie author’s first book. I don’t know if you know this, but indie authors have to do everything themselves. In 2016 I attended a writer’s conference and heard the publisher-in-residence say, “Publishing is a team sport.” If you traditionally publish, you have a built-in team. If you self/indie publish, you build your own team. But you have to be willing to build that team. It took me two years to build my sweet little team, and I anticipate that team expanding as I publish more books. My Book Launch Team for <i>Wingbound </i>was fabulous. They shared about my book on social media, to their friends in person, and encouraged me along the way. I had an online Facebook party and they attended. I had a live launch party at a local bookstore and they attended. They helped me reach my launch week book sale goals and more. (If you want to hear more about my team and/or to join, <a href="http://www.heatheraine.com/p/launch-team.html" target="_blank">go to my BLT Page</a>.) Where as I started this journey alone, has come to completion being carried by my fabulous support system!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS5dKVAHSGZZQS9ZPnNNgey80btiNXIwWMl-4K3XBTytx9D3gdSkHdE4ArABij0LPhV-agyLc-30jQ5w1u2HE2fG0fn9mCObHbtjjbT-rRWt4NT-x7m5zCxcPcdBnerNNK8_fdG9sus4k/s1600/Daydreamer.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS5dKVAHSGZZQS9ZPnNNgey80btiNXIwWMl-4K3XBTytx9D3gdSkHdE4ArABij0LPhV-agyLc-30jQ5w1u2HE2fG0fn9mCObHbtjjbT-rRWt4NT-x7m5zCxcPcdBnerNNK8_fdG9sus4k/s320/Daydreamer.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<b>#3 - I’ve given the “daydreamers” hope.</b> The coolest thing about launching this specific book, <i>Wingbound</i>, is that it started in a daydream while cloud gazing. (<a href="http://www.heatheraine.com/p/author-q.html">Read more Q&A</a> of behind the scenes.) There have been bunches of kids (and adults!) who’ve reacted in surprise, “You daydream too?” They are told to stop daydreaming and do their work, stop scribbling stories on bits of paper. But I say <i>DON’T stop doing that! Keep daydreaming. Keep your head in the clouds. And keep weaving those crazy tales! One day they will be a book with a beautiful cover that you get to share with your family, friends, and the world!</i><br />
<br />
<h4>
THANK YOU</h4>
<br />
I am so grateful for each and every person who connected with me during this book launch, whether it was about the book, or just because we happened to cross paths. Thank you for your love and support. Let's stay connected and talk often!<br />

four-foot tall stand up poster of the WINGBOUD cover. It was so fun to open on-camera.
I opened a second package and was surprised to find the proof copy of the

Starting in January 2018, my publicist started pitching
WINGBOUND to book reviewers on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Then in February,
the reviews started rolling in! They’re posting to social media, blogs, and Goodreads.
I’m getting some really great reviews so far! I’m so proud that people “get” my
characters. They love the world I painted. And were surprised by the plot! <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;">This book dug its way into my heart and plowed
it to pieces. Mara is a fiery, strong-willed, and scrappy character who
sacrifices herself for her sister in so many ways. She does what she believes
is the right. But what she chose really hurt to watch [read]. I was really upset
as she sold herself into sex slavery. But when she is freed from that life, and
her wounds began to heal, I healed with her. I forgave with her. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

of humanity and shines a brilliant light at what is wrong in this world. It
sheds hope where there is no hope and brings mercy to those who don’t deserve
it. All the wrongness was hard to swallow. It bothered me for days. But a book
hasn’t done its job if you’re not thinking about it when you’re doing something
else. Even if you’re just asking questions. What was Mara thinking?! How could
Zev do that?! Where is this mysterious King?! And why does Mara deserve all the
love and compassion from all these good people? I love the answer to that
question from a character in the book, “What does it mean to deserve something?”<o:p></o:p></span></div>

this story and left its footprints—footprints from an invisible King.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

This is classified as a Chrstian novel. But I have to say it is not preachy Christianity. There is no cliche' character "saying the sinner's prayer" in the end. Thank goodness! What is present is the love of God. It is woven expertly into this story.<br />

The main
character is sex-trafficked, abused, and verbally degraded. The story would be lost without these details and sheds light on
the dark world of human trafficking, so it is a valuable part of the story. Author, Melissa Keaster, references a
ministry in her hometown helping trafficking survivors, I think it’s worth a

With the release of WINGBOUND becoming more and more public, friends (new and old) are asking how things are going with the publishing process, being a mom, wife, ministry, and writing book two. It takes more than a Facebook post to really share that bulky answer. So here it is!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
<h4>
EDITING PROCESS</h4>
As you may already know, I am publishing my first novel. WINGBOUND has been edited to within an inch of its life by a professional editor. In December 2017 sent it to a proofreader for an estimate on how much it would cost to do "one last" proofread. In her reply she said that she usually takes two excerpts and edits those for a sample of her skills and sends it back with the cost. Well, apparently, she didn't find anything to edit. How awesome is that?! WINGBOUND is clean and ready. (Although, I did read it aloud one more time to catch any last details... but there wasn't much. Maybe 8 in all 73,000 words.) So I swear... I'm DONE editing!<br />
<br />
<h4>
FORMATTING</h4>
WINGBOUND was finished with formatting by the end of the second week of January. Now it is presentable as an ebook, softcover, and hardcover book. Apparently you have to format for each type book you'd like to create. If you're in my Book Launch Team, you know the ebook is being read by my faithful Team. (<a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/heathertrim/" target="_blank">Join here to read it free</a> before release.) It looks so pretty on my Kindle!!<br />
<br />
<h4>
BOOK COVER</h4>
I've had the book cover design for quite sometime, now it is being laid out for a softcover and hardcover. At this point it feels like I'm seven months pregnant. There are only two months to go, and I can't WAIT to hold my beautiful baby in my hands!<br />
<br />
<h4>
BOOK LAUNCH</h4>
All the plans are coming together for launching the book. I have a mountain of ideas for the next nine weeks. I've hired a publicist to help me promote it to the world and book reviewers (and a whole lot more.) I'm creating fan merchandise. (T-shirts should be ready next month.) I'm mailing bookmarks to the Book Launch Team, so they can leave them around their cities in coffee shops and places I'd never be able to reach on my own.<br />
<br />
The biggest and best plan is launch weekend: I have two parties planned! On Friday, March 23, 2018 we will have an online launch party for all my friends and fans to log on and win prizes. THEN on Saturday, I'll be at Books-A-Million for an in-real-life book launch party hosted by two of the awesomest people: Kevin (my handsome hubby) and Pam (my schnazzy sister.) I can't even begin to imagine the cool things our combined efforts will conjure up. I'm pretty sure I'm coming in costume!<br />
<br />
<h4>
WRITING</h4>
So that is where I am. Seven months pregnant with a book that you guys will love. And I know when you finish it, you will need book two ASAP. I've written about 1/3 of book two and plan to release it in the Fall of 2018 because waiting an entire year to release seems like torture (for you and for me!) Meanwhile, between ministry and family, things are quite busy around here. My 2018 resolution is to start my day reading in my pajamas and sipping coffee. (Currently reading an author friend's novel... it's sooooo good so far!)<br />
<br />
Happy January!<br />

ungifted pledged fealty and service to her family in exchange for safe haven,
and a kingdom was carved out from the wildlands and sustained by magic capable
of repelling the world’s deadliest foes. As the sole heir of Pavan, Aurora’s
been groomed to be the perfect queen. She’s intelligent and brave and

To keep her secret and save her crown, Aurora’s mother arranges for her to marry
a dark and brooding Stormling prince from another kingdom. At first, the prince
seems like the perfect solution to all her problems. He’ll guarantee her spot
as the next queen and be the champion her people need to remain safe. But the
more secrets Aurora uncovers about him, the more a future with him frightens
her. When she dons a disguise and sneaks out of the palace one night to spy on
him, she stumbles upon a black market dealing in the very thing she lacks—storm
magic. And the people selling it? They’re not Stormlings. They’re storm
hunters.<br />

Legend says that her ancestors first gained their magic by facing a storm and
stealing part of its essence. And when a handsome young storm hunter reveals he
was born without magic, but possesses it now, Aurora realizes there’s a third
option for her future besides ruin or marriage.<br />

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Great
overall story, except for the over use of kissing. Kissing once or twice is
okay, but making out every other chapter near the end was a little much. I was
thinking, “get on with the story already.” It was a little much, but the story
and characters saved it for me. If the kissing didn’t take over the story, I
would have given it a 5 but because it slowed the story so much I give it a 4: GREAT
story, worth the time!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%;">Like I said
above, there was a bit too much making out (which I never thought I’d say.) But
it actually slowed the story instead of enhancing the emotions. Other than that,
it’s not crass. It would probably be a PG-13 movie.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">Rarely does a story like this come
along. In <i>I Love Me Not… I Love Me…,</i> Kimberly
Zink shares the heart-breaking details of her life with remarkable vulnerability
and insightful courage. The journey is authentic and raw—from early sexual
abuse to teenage pregnancy; from rape to alcohol abuse; from an abusive
marriage to devastating illness. It is far more than most can imagine, let
alone endure.</span><br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">For years, Kimberly perceived herself as
a victim. After all, that was the story she was given. How could someone like
her—a dirty, broken, unloved girl—have a good life? After all the terrible
things that had happened to her, how could she have happiness, wealth, and a
great family? But Kimberly discovered that she had a choice. She had the
ability—in every moment—to choose her own story, and so do you.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<i><span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">I Love

personal gift to you. She shares the secrets that helped her to turn her life
in a completely different direction., to find her gift and fulfill her purpose.
Her message is life-changing. No matter who you are or where you have been in life. There are
greater rewards, greater accomplishments, deeper connections waiting for you. You
can truly have it all! You can change your present and your can change your
future if you are just willing to learn from your past. You have the power to create
the person you want to be and have the life you want to live!<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">REVIEW:</span></h4>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">I read this book in route to a seminar
in which Kimberly Zink was teaching. She has a shocking story. As she tells her
story, chapter by chapter, she shares her present-day revelations overcoming
that trauma and pain. She dives into the pit of her abuse and pain, graciously
sharing her deep revelations about the choices she made as a victim and how she
is choosing to walk in victory now<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">There were chapters that made me cry and
as she wrapped up each one, I could see the pain she is turning away from and
the joy that results from healing. I appreciated the choice she made in being
transparent to share her story and allowing us to learn from her. The overarching
feeling I got from this book was, “If she can grow, heal, and change, so can I.”<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin-bottom: .0001pt; margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">I gladly give this a 5 rating: EXCELLENT
read and worth every minute. I appreciated how easy it was to read. Her voice
flows effortlessly from page to page making room for the deepest impact in the
heart. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt;">Knowing her story and seeing her in the
seminar where she voiced a few of these stories, made it easy to open my own
heart and let other people in. Kimberly truly is a gem. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
